🏐COED VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE - Rules and Regulations 🏐
TEAM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 females & Minimum 2 males on court at all times
- Teams may play short-handed ONLY if gender minimums are met
- All teams must be registered + have completed payment & waivers
- Substitutes are permitted, but must be communicated to league staff on site, prior to the game
- Substitutes are only eligible for playoffs if they have played in a minimum of 50% of the regular season games
MATCH START
- Teams must be prepared to start at the scheduled time.
- A team that cannot field a legal lineup within 15 minutes of the scheduled start may forfeit the first set; 30 minutes forfeit the entire match
GAME FORMAT
- Best 2 out of 3 sets.
- Sets 1 & 2: 25 points (win by 2, cap 27)
- Set 3: 15 points (win by 2, cap 17)
- TIME RULE: If the match reaches the end of the 1-hour allotted time, → the current score of the ongoing set becomes the final score
- Teams are permitted ONE - 30 second timeout per set.
- Tie breakers in the Standings will be settles by Set Differential, Point Differential in Sets (cumulative of all sets)
COURT & BOUNDARIES
- Ceiling = OUT OF BOUNDS at all times; ball contacting ceiling results in loss of point.
- Walls/Basketball Nets = OUT OF BOUNDS at all times; ball contacting walls or basketball nets results in loss of point
- Net touches = violation
SELF-OFFICIATED
- Players call their own:
- Net touches
- Lifts / holds
- Double contacts
- Touches / deflections
- In / out calls
Scorekeepers present are ONLY to flip scores — NOT to officiate.
- If unsure → Replay the point.
- Captains must help manage disputes respectfully.
ROTATIONS & CONTACTS
- Maximum 3 contacts per side
- Block does NOT count as a contact
- Teams must rotate clockwise after winning serve back
- Players must remain in correct rotational order at serve
- No stacking or switching positions early
- Front row and back row positions must be respected until the serve is contacted
- No libero is used in this league
SERVICE RULES
- Players may take ONE step past the service line if needed.
- Both feet must begin behind the service line at the start of the serve
- After 5 consecutive serves, the serving must rotate to a new server. (This is not applicable in Playoffs)
SPORTSMANSHIP
- Respect teammates, opponents, and staff
- No trash talk, intimidation, or aggressive behavior
- Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in warnings or removal
FORFEITS
- Not meeting gender minimums = possible forfeit
- Fewer than 4 players → forfeit
- Repeated misconduct → league intervention
SAFETY
- Warm up before games
- Remove jewelry or accessories that may be dangerous/cause injury
- Report injuries to staff immediately
PLAYOFF STRUCTURE
- Top 6 teams qualify for the playoffs
- All teams are guaranteed 3 playoff games, regardless of seeding
1ST ROUND
- 1st seed → BYE to Semis
- 2nd seed → BYE to Semis
Championship Bracket Matches
- 3rd seed vs 6th seed
- 4th seed vs 5th seed
Non-Championship (Exhibition) Matches
- 1st seed vs 8th seed (Exhibition)
- 2nd seed vs 7th seed (Exhibition)
- (7th & 8th seeds are eliminated from championship contention but still guaranteed 3 games.)
2ND ROUND
Championship Bracket
- Winner of 4th vs 5th → plays 1st seed
- Winner of 3rd vs 6th → plays 2nd seed
Exhibition Bracket
- Loser of 4th vs 5th → plays 8th seed
- Loser of 3rd vs 6th → plays 7th seed
- (These games count toward the guaranteed 3-game minimum.)
3RD ROUND
Championship Game
- Winners of the 2nd-round CHAMPIONSHIP bracket play each other.
Exhibition Games

Winners of the 2nd-round EXHIBITION bracket play each other.
- Losers of the 2nd-round EXHIBITION bracket play each other.
